Orchid Repotting Demonstration at GNTOS
The May meeting of GNTOS (Greater North Texas Orchid Society) provided me the opportunity to show how to properly repot an orchid. Helping people care for their plants is an important part of conservation. Some species have entirely disappeared from the wild, mostly due to loss of habitat, so keeping plants in our collections healthy and happy could ensure the survival of some of those species.
Repotting an orchid is actually pretty simple. The first step is to know when it needs to be done. Next, the needed materials need to be available — including potting medium, the right kind of pot, and clean tools.
Orchids always seem so happy when they have good care and a suitable environment. It’s such a pleasure to see them flourish.
