Ecosystems must be kept intact – our survival depends on it
We can support orchid conservation only if we are willing to support the entire ecosystem which sustains all life. Orchids are like any other life form — they require clean air, unpolluted water, nourishment and a place to live — exactly like people. If we allow their environment to be destroyed, we will lose not only our beloved orchids, but also the things upon which our very existence depends. Consider what this article has to say about what happens when we diminish the population of birds and insects. Why would we care about a bunch of bugs (ugh!) One reason — we can’t live without them.
A recent article in The Guardian explains this very succinctly.
